Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how AskJASP (askjasp.com) handles information when you visit the site, use model cards, or use the Browser Lab at /browser-lab/.

TL;DR

  • Browser Lab runs on your device - prompts and continuations are not sent to AskJASP for generation
  • We do not train on your prompts or outputs
  • Model weights download from Hugging Face / CDNs and may stay in browser cache (you accept that first)
  • No accounts; no third-party analytics SDKs in the page
  • Cloudflare hosts the site and may log normal request traffic (IP, approx. location, etc.)

1. Who we are

AskJASP is a free, non-commercial hobby project operated from France (publisher details: see Mentions légales). It is the public website for the FromZero project - open models published on Hugging Face under fromziro. Contact: contact@askjasp.com (mailto only; there is no on-site contact form).

We do not offer user accounts, billing, or third-party analytics SDKs on this site.

2. What this site is

Hosted on Cloudflare Workers with Cloudflare D1 (Western Europe) for:

  • model-card catalog and README cache (models, model_readme_cache);
  • Browser Lab catalog and info-card copy (browser_lab_models, browser_lab_models_info).

We provide model cards (including rendered Hugging Face READMEs) and an experimental Browser Lab (chat-style UI; catalog from D1 via GET /api/browser-lab/models). We do not host multi-user AI chat or store your prompts/completions on AskJASP servers for generation.

3. Data we process

  • Cloudflare delivery & security: IP, URL, user agent, timestamps, and similar technical data for serving and protecting the site (including Worker and edge logs).
  • Lab catalog API: GET /api/browser-lab/models returns catalog metadata only (model ids, blurbs, HF package refs, info-card copy). It does not receive or return prompts or completions. Calling it still goes through Cloudflare, which may log IP, user agent, and URL as for other requests.
  • Site notice: if you dismiss the soft notice, localStorage key askjasp_notice_v2 and cookie askjasp_notice (about 1 year). Not advertising.
  • Promo bar: dismiss preference in localStorage askjasp_promo_v1 (~30 days).
  • Contact email: messages you send to contact@askjasp.com.
  • Model cards: our Worker may fetch and cache public Hugging Face README files in D1 to render /model-cards/. That fetch is server-side; your browser IP is not sent to Hugging Face for that README load. Following HF links is under Hugging Face’s policy.
  • Fonts: self-hosted under /fonts/ (DM Sans, Instrument Serif; SIL OFL). We do not load fonts from a third-party font CDN.
  • Outbound links: the Hugging Face Hub platform and Discord are independent third parties with their own policies when you leave askjasp.com. FromZero / fromziro is the same open-model project AskJASP represents - not an unrelated company; Hub pages and downloads still run under Hugging Face’s terms and privacy policy.

4. Browser Lab (local inference)

Applies to the public Browser Lab at /browser-lab/ (D1-backed catalog). Former /browser-lab-beta/ URLs redirect here.

AskJASP does not receive your prompts or continuations for generation, and does not use them to train models.

  • Prompts and completions are designed to run only on your device (WebGPU and/or WASM / ONNX on your GPU or CPU).
  • Downloads: public browser ONNX packages on Hugging Face (typically *-web repos, conversion artifacts of source models) and the Transformers.js runtime (CDN, e.g. jsDelivr) may be fetched. Those hosts see normal download metadata (IP, which files). Prompts and completions are not included in those download requests.
  • Consent dialog: before the first download of a model that is not already cached, the lab asks you to agree to those downloads. Storing weights in this browser’s Cache Storage is based on that user-requested consent.
  • Cache Storage: weights may remain until you clear them (lab UI or browser settings).
  • Residual risks: browser extensions, shared devices, or malware on your machine can still access page content. We do not guarantee anonymity. Cloudflare, HF, CDNs, and your network still process technical data.

5. Purposes and legal bases

  • Run the website (including serving pages and catalog metadata) - legitimate interest.
  • Security / edge protection - legitimate interest (Cloudflare; we do not run separate application rate-limit tables on the Worker).
  • Notice & promo preferences - your choice when you dismiss the notice or promo bar (consent to store that preference only; not advertising).
  • Lab weight / runtime downloads and local cache - your consent via the lab download dialog when you choose to load a model.
  • Reply to contact mail - legitimate interest / handling your request.

6. International transfers

Cloudflare is global; request data may be processed outside the EEA (including the US) under Cloudflare’s terms. Model-card and lab-catalog data sits in D1 (Western Europe); Workers may access it from the edge. Lab downloads and server-side README fetches may involve Hugging Face / CDNs outside the EEA.

We do not claim all processing stays only in France.

7. Cookies and similar technologies

  • askjasp_notice + askjasp_notice_v2 - soft notice dismiss (preference, not ads).
  • askjasp_promo_v1 - optional promo dismiss (~30 days).
  • Browser Lab Cache Storage after you download models.
  • Cloudflare may set strictly necessary security cookies (e.g. bot challenges). Not for our marketing.

A non-blocking notice explains Cloudflare hosting/security, age (15+), and legal links. Choosing OK only stores the preference keys above so we can hide the bar; it does not lock the site.

8. Retention

  • CDN / security logs - per Cloudflare operational practice.
  • Notice storage - up to ~1 year or until you clear site data.
  • Contact emails - as long as needed to handle the request.
  • Lab cache - until you or the browser clears it.
  • D1 catalog / README cache - until we refresh or remove the content.

9. Sharing

We do not sell personal information. Processors / recipients may include:

  • Cloudflare, Inc. - hosting, CDN, security, D1
  • Mailbox for contact@ - ordinary email
  • Hugging Face Hub / CDNs - server-side README refresh; browser lab weight and runtime downloads. When your browser fetches files from huggingface.co (or a CDN such as jsDelivr), those services are independent third-party processors/controllers for that traffic. FromZero packages under fromziro/* are published by the FromZero project behind AskJASP; the Hub platform itself remains a separate service.
  • Discord - only if you open our Discord invite (independent third party)
  • Authorities - when required by law

10. Your rights

Depending on your location (including GDPR), you may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, or portability where applicable. Email contact@askjasp.com. You may complain to a supervisory authority such as the CNIL (France).

11. Children

Not directed at children under 15. You must be at least 15 to use the Service.

12. Changes

We may update this policy and will change the “Last updated” date when we do.
